Introducing: Rotary Speed Magazine! |
| Posted by ricochet - 07-4-08 13:44 - 0 comments |
 |
With our recent launch of the all-Miata title, Forever MX-5, our Miata readership now has a title to call their own. It was time to do the same for our dedicated rotary readers. We're not going to leave non-rotary owners in the total cold, but our piston brethren will have reduced coverage as they'll now be part of a Mazdasport magazine-within-a-magazine section of what is, essentially, an all-new publication: Rotary Speed Magazine. So, what will Rotary Speed Magazine do for you, the dedicated Mazda RX enthusiast? We'll be covering the hottest rotary-powered cars from all over the world, plus cover modifications, news, and all the motorsport action you can handle. I'll be personally stepping into the Editor in Chief role here at Rotary Speed magazine. And, to be completely honest, I'm excited to be taking the reigns of a magazine at the editorial level once again. For the past few years my focus has been on just handling publishing and design of our various titles here. Also, this gives me an excuse to buy a new RX-8, a car I've been dieing to own since I first drove a press sample back in 2004. It's essence was very much the same as my old RX-7 GSL-SE, but with more power and a heck of a lot more in the way of creature comforts. Yes, admittedly, I'm in my mid-30s and have started to like little things, like power steering. The first issue of Rotary Speed Magazine will ship in August, but you can place your subscription right now by clicking here. 1-year (4-issues) is only $19.99 or 2-years (8-issues) is only $36.99.

Time Attack Miata Build! |
| Posted by ricochet - 02-4-08 14:41 - 0 comments |

Which is faster? A 1993 Subaru Impreza 2.0T Time Attack racer or a 1990 1.6T Miata? We'll find out the hard way... building a Time Attack Miata to compete against Subiesport Magazine's Time Attack Impreza. The Miata build will be documented in Forever MX-5 Magazine to comply with the Redline Time Attack rules for Street Class. Can't wait to see what happens next? Me and the editor of Subiesport will post weekly updates on both the project cars (and generally taunt and berate each other) to www.drivingsports.com in the " Build Battle" section. We've started our blog entries, and the virtual brawl is already coming to a boil!

We understand that contributing to a forum is a lot of fun--but it also takes a lot of time. MAZOOA therefore wants to reward those of you that have something to say in the forums, but aren't ready to commit to our Plus Membership. You can think of it as a perk for participation. Earn free downloads of Mazdasport Magazine!Every post in the MAZOOA forums works your way to free downloads! Use that credit to score any of the great Mazdasport Magazine PDF files available. Each Mazdasport Magazine PDF is a complete archive of the original printed edition; output to your printer if you want to take a hardcopy on the go, or read it on your computer screen. All you need is a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the files. 10 Forum Posts = 1 Digital Download(1 download per 50 posts thereafter) There are some rules: You can earn a maximum of 1 download per week, since anything more would only encourage "post whoring" to the extreme. Your credits, however, accumulate. Therefore if you post 100 times you earn two additional downloads which you can exercise over two weeks. Also, it is at MAZOOA's sole discretion if posts are worth keeping. Deleted posts will not accumulate towards your post rewards. Some sections (such as "off topic") may not count towards your accumulated total. This program is subject to change without notice.

MazdaDays is returning again this year to GT Live at VIR. The NC Rotaries car club is preparing to make this the best Mazda meet on the east cost. To do that we need LOTS AND LOTS of Mazda cars to show up. Also, this year we have discounts! You can use the promo code ' WIBOB' when buying your tickets to get you $5 off a weekend pass, or $2 off a one day pass. Motorsports at a discount... mmmm mmmm good. The code is multi use, so feel free to distribute it as you wish. Yes, clickable. Discuss in the official MAZOOA thread: http://www.mazooa.com/index.php?showtopic=108

If you haven't yet taken a look at the membership features here at MAZOOA, you certainly should. Every member has a personal portal page that includes a picture (easy to upload), comments, history of posts, links to blog entries, gallery photos, ratings, a spotlight of other members that have visited your personal page, a MySpace-esque Friends List and more. For an example, check out my personal page. You can browse the members by clicking "Members" listed on the top of every page, or in the forums click the posters name and a pull-down will give an option to view their personal portal. Don't be shy about contributing profile comments and adding to your Friends List.
